Both the boys and girls water polo teams came away with two wins this week over Hanford High on Tuesday and Hanford West on Wednesday.
Girls Water Polo
The Lady Trailblazers had fallen twice to Hanford High this year, but the third time proved to be the charm. Tuesday, the GW girls toppled the top-seeded Bullpups 9-6. Senior Natalee Clements and junior Cameron Smith both snagged a pair of goals. Also adding to the team goal count was Kallyn Nordell, Natalie Medillin, Ella Niederreiter, Jackie Flores and Macey White with one a piece. On the defensive end, goalie Carley Hall had 15 blocks.
On Wednesday, they downed the Hanford West Huskies 13-7. Leading the scoring for GW was senior south paw Kallyn Nordell and senior Natalie Clements with 4 goals each. Cameron Smith and Ella Niederreiter chipped in a pair, while Jackie Flores added one to the scoreboard. The Lady Trailblazers are now 7-3 in WYL. Boys Water Polo
The GW boys Polo team had no problem handling the Bullpups at home on Tuesday, coming away with a 23-8 win. Leading the scoring for the Trailblazers were Brandon Green and Eli Sanchez with five goals each.
On Wednesday, the GW boys hit the road and traveled to Hanford to face off against a tough Hanford West team. The Huskies were fresh off a big win over Redwood on Tuesday night, knocking the Rangers out of first place in league standings. In what ended up being a very defensive game, GWHS outpaced the Huskies and won 6-4. Leading the offensive run, senior Westley Crum and junior Brandon Green found the back of cage twice. Bret Dennis and Sanchez added one a piece. GWHS Boys Water Polo sit atop the league standing and are now 8-1 in league.
